Museu Municipal
Regional Museum
Lagos’ Museu Municipal “Dr. José Formosinho” houses an interesting collection of archaeological finds from the area. These include Roman mosaics, Moorish oil lamps and pottery. There is also display of European weapons such as swords, muskets and cannonballs and the charter by which King Manuel conferred privileges on Lagos. The most valuable items are the vestments worn during the last mass attended by King Sebastião, before leaving on his ill-fated conquest of Morocco. The Museu Municipal tour ends in the amazing church of St. Anthony.
