📍How to get there:
Instead of entering the main town beach (Praia Batata) next to the fortress, continue walking up the Avenida to Mar restaurant.
In front of the restaurant there are stairs down to Praia dos Estudantes.
To get to the arch, spot the tunnel in the cliff (see in the middle of photo 1). Walk through and emerge at a cute beach with the iconic arch.

💡Bonus tip: this beach doesn’t have any bar, so either stop by @lafocaccialagos on the way for some panini to-go. Or drop into @thecollabbarlagos (even closer) for yummy bao buns, Asian street food and craft beers) to take to the beach or enjoy there on the esplanade with sea view🍻

🏄‍♀️The advice I wish someone had given me when I first came to Lagos, Portugal…

1. 🌊Lagos is one of the best surf destinations in Europe💥. With two coast lines (South + West) and sand beaches all along, there is almost always waves somewhere. 
2. ✅ The easy way is with a SURF DAY TRIP… Surfboard, wetsuit, location, transport, lesson, lunch - it’s a lot to organise on your own. On a day-trip all that is included.  We recommend @the_surfexperience. They’re the original Lagos Surf school (est. 1992) and bloody good at it. Whether beginner or intermediate, everyone comes back smiling 🙌 💶 All inc. Day-trip: 55/60€ (Low/high season) 
3. 🏄‍♂️ RENTAL: If you have a bit of experience and are up for going alone (or with a buddy, always better), you can rent a board and wetsuit from @jahshakashop. Reserve your gear online & pick it up or just drop in. Their friendly staff can advise you on the current surf conditions. They also sell new and second hand boards. 💶 Board + wetsuit rental: 20€/day 
4. 🏖️ WHERE: Sometimes there is surf on Lagos beaches Meia Praia and Porto de Mos. Otherwise you’ll need to head West to beaches such as Zavial, Praia do Amado, Arrifana, Monte Clerigo, Castelejo… 
5. 📺 Check the WEBCAMS online to see if the conditions look right for you. (Search webcam + the beach names listed above)

6. 🚗 TRANSPORT: Want to rent a car to get to the beaches? @marinarentacar.algarve and @luzcar_algarve are the best local services. Both have offices in Lagos.

7. 🩹Surfboard REPAIRS/materials @shapershed @sambobsboards 
💫 PRE/POST-SURF tips:
💆🏻Go for a sports massage @heatherbainmassage 🧘🏻‍♀️Do a sunset (or sunrise) Yoga class with @elsollifestyle

The boardwalks between Ponta da Piedade and Praia

The boardwalks between Ponta da Piedade and Praia do Canavial offer awe-inspiring views and are the perfect place to catch the sunset 🌅.
Bring a bottle of wine and a picnic blanket and you’re all set! 🍷🧺

📍You can start the walk at the ponta da Piedade lighthouse, or at the parking lot opposite Monte Mar Lagos. Or, if you are up for a longer hike (1-2h) start the boardwalk at Praia Dona Ana, which will take you past stunning Praia do Camilo and to Ponta da Piedade, offering spectacular views of the Lagos coastline along the way.
